CONSTRUCTION OF URBAN PUBLIC INFRASTRUCTURE IN INFORMAL SETTLEMENTS IN COLOMBIA: TECHO'S EXPERIENCE

Daniel Quintero

Abstract

This case study and video are brief references to the efforts of citizen participation in the construction of urban public infrastructure in highly vulnerable communities on the outskirts of Bogotá, Colombia. In the document, the reader can observe the role played by the NGO TECHO – Un TECHO para mi País Colombia - in the process of empowerment and consolidation of these processes of citizen participation, through its program of work along with local residents and leaders of these communities. To illustrate the work and the results that have been obtained from 2011-2013, this report takes a journey through the communities of Altos del Pino and Rincon del Lago, in which dialogue with residents and community leaders took place.
